Abstract

The literature of memory research mentions anniversaries and meetings among the rites of recollection, which, in addition to their community-organizing nature, increase and strengthen the sense of identity in the members of the community. The present small study outlines the genealogical memory of a colonized family in Andrássytelep (Luduş, România), presenting the early years of its life, the knowledge that survived and was transferred in the family, and the documents found during the research. One of the pivotal questions of the analysis is what documents the family produced and preserved, how they kept the community consciousness together; what forms of remembrance were passed down from one generation to the next, what was remembered and what was silenced, what are the memories that left their mark on memory. The central part of the study is the presentation of documents found in the National Archives in Budapest. They document the first decades of the family after the settlement, revealed at the first meeting of the Kódori family.
