FRIGYES KARINTHY: DANA IDE
Main Article Content
Abstract
Frigyes Karinthy’s literary caricature, Dana Ides, uses formal features to create a poetic text about the story of the Ancient Greek Danaids, which relies solely on the structural aspects of textuality. Linguistic marks of textual features are apparent in word usage, syntax, and the use of stylistic and rhetoric devices (alliteration, repetition, allusion, parallelism, use of mathematical symbolism). The text is remarkable not only as a source of humour, but also as a critique of style.
